Smart copy with an imaginative twist?
You’ve got it.
My name is Rachel Bates and I’m a copywriter, features editor and E-learning developer based in Leicester, England. Taking on my first role as a features writer in 2005, I have over 16 year’s worth of copy-based experience and over 3 year’s experience working in Learning & Development, providing services for a range of large and small businesses, including Next, 69 Magazine, Kyte Creative, Wagamama and Mariner Jacks.
I currently work as a Copy & Features Editor for Next and I’m my spare time, I provide freelance support to small businesses and designers, writing everything product descriptions to marketing emails. Whether it’s an interview with a major band, scent profiles for beardcare products or training materials to outline financial laws and legislation, I love to get out of my comfort zone, working with weird and wonderful subjects and creating captivating copy in a range of voices.
When I’m not writing for work (or writing for fun!) you can find me at home fighting my husband for the Playstation controller or out walking our cavalier puppy, Coco.

I will always be grateful for the time i worked with rachel. i initially approached her when i started my own design agency, and asked her if she could write the content for my website. this was my baby, it was such a labour of love and i wanted someone to encapsulate what i was and what my business was about, which rachel did effortlessly.
she took my website from being just a bunch of pretty images and gave it a soul and a purpose. i was completely blown away by her words. after that, i used rachel as my copywriter for every website job i had, and my clients were blown away by her attention to detail and that way she is so effortlessly able to portray the business to the client.
she is an incredible talent, hard-working and committed. she always puts her heart and soul into everything she does, and it shows.Natalie Warren
